Important results from the project

The purpose of the Semantics project has been to jointly investigate the conditions for developing common concepts or ontology alignment between existing taxonomies and/or other kinds of information in the skills sector. The project has succeeded in answering most of the questions that, in the first phase of the project, were identified as most central.

Expected long term effects

The project has provided the following concise answers to the basic questions about the common semantics of the KLL data infrastructure (hereafter the semantics): Whether it is appropriate to develop the semantics? Yes, but it´s a balancing act to get costs and added value to match. What does the semantics consist of? It is a complex question that has several answers and requires distinctions and definitions of central concepts. How can the semantics be developed? The project proposes a number of first steps. Development of these short answers can be found in the Final Report.

Approach and implementation

Participating authorities have from November 2021 to December 2022 jointly run a project aimed at jointly investigating the conditions for developing common concepts or ontology alignment between existing taxonomies and/or other kinds of information in the skills sector. Through exchange of knowledge, clarification of issues and three different activity tracks, the project has led to many lessons learned, a more common understanding of the challenges and a number of suggestions for continued activities. Of which three new projects already started.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
