Important results from the project

Innovationsplattform Stad´s objective is long-term mobilization of organisations and individuals in the urban food system. Malmö was used as a pilot city, focusing on politicians and decision-makers, resulting in them understanding the importance of food when handling the citys resilience, sustainability and the well-being of citizens. IP Stad shows that it is possible to drive system change beyond individual projectsm prototypes, experiments, to long-term solutions in the urban food system.

Expected long term effects

Every city in Sweden is alone when working with their urban food system. No one owns the national, overarching discussion about the urban food system in Sweden. Cooperation and coordination are essential for a national consensus and large-scale change. Plattform Stad began this dialogue, and the exhibition and Time Travel are now requested by other cities to engage decision-makers and address their urban food systems.

Approach and implementation

The initial system mapping identified politicians and decision-makers the key leverage points and was used in the implementation of the IP City mobilization. Methods such as trend scouting and foresight were applied. The result is the exhibition The Independent Food City and the experience The Time Travel. Showing two scenarios for Malmö 2035 a projected distopic future and a preferable future based on changes we can make today for a more sustainable future. +700 people have visited Malmö 2035.
