Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to execute an innovation competition to identify innovators and ideas for battling water sanitation issues in Jakarta, Indonesia. The competition was carried out by IKEA, Lund University, Mercy Corps and Student Competitions in 2014/15. The project was successful, it had numerous participants and splendid winners and ideas were identified as a result of the project.
Expected long term effects
The competition has resulted in three winners with great ideas, who has been rewarded with the prizes: scholarships to Lund University and internships at Mercy Corps funded by IKEA foundation. The winners have also participated in a number of other Swedish/Indonesian events during spring 2015.
Approach and implementation
The competition was executed by Lund University, IKEA Indonesia, Student Competitions and Mercy Corps Indonesia. A website, Bluebagaward.com, was designed and published in autumn 2014, where local Indonesian innovators could sign up for participation and send in their contributions. The competition ran for three months, when the competition closed, a number of finalists were selected. The winners were reveled in a final event, organized in connection with the opening of IKEAs first store in Jakarta, in spring 2015.
