Purpose and goal

Projektet Gävle återbygg aims to scale up and develop a long-term sustainable business model for a hub with large-scale of reuse of building materials. 1. Create a hub in Gävle for public and private actors. Sell recycled building materials and provide services such as inventory, dismantling, storage, and logistics. 2. Develop systematized working methods together with community-building actors in Gävle and make recycling a natural part of their project and internal processes.

Expected effects and result

• Increased competence and awareness among project partners, builders, and other actors in the sector • Identified obstacles that hinder large-scale reuse. • Developed methods and templates that can be applied in projects and disseminated internally and externally • Working with the Gävle climate agreement that has brought together the various actors in the construction chain to promote large-scale reuse of building materials • Create a Hub for competence and sale reused building material

Planned approach and implementation

The project establishes a hub in Gävle from 2026. Step one: find premises, IT systems, and mapping material flow. Step two: start the inflow of building materials, legal requirements, and marketing. Step three: Outflows with sales, contracts, and customer support. Finally, inflows, outflows, and business models are tested with project partners and stakeholders and further developed and evaluated. The business is transferred to a financially independent business.
