Purpose and goal
The objectives of the current project are to design, manufacture and evaluate the mechanical performance of structures featuring tailored properties along all directions. The project partners will also address the possibility of patenting the methodology for manufacturing structures with on-demand in plane and out of plane thermomechanical properties.
Expected results and effects
The present work includes interactive development of the composite material, experimental characterization and evaluation. The project is addressing a key missing feature on composite materials; on demand, out-of-plane thermomechanical properties. A successful outcome will not only provide the grounds for a patent publication, but also will promote Elitkomposit as an exclusive supplier of composite materials with custom 3dimensional properties.
Planned approach and implementation
In order to fullfil the project objectives, testing in two scales will be carried out; both on coupon and structural levels. Appropriate experimental configurations will be deployed in order to properly manufacture each set of test samples. The respective samples will then be experimentally tested and the results will be evaluated. If the budget allows to, some initial simulation modelling will be performed.
