Important results from the project

The project has resulted in a pre-verified and industry-adapted tool that supports the production of EPDs and LCAs for aggregates. The tool combines process simulation and environmental calculations, which simplifies the production of product-specific environmental data, reduces the need for external expertise and streamlines the verification process. The project has also produced environmental databases, report templates, training materials and a business and commercialization plan.

Expected long term effects

The project is expected to increase transparency and comparability in the reporting of environmental impacts from aggregates production, supporting informed decision-making and sustainable choices across the sector. By improving the ability to measure, monitor and analyze environmental performance, the project creates conditions for greater energy and resource efficiency. It also contributes to the establishment of common methods and standards for environmental assessment within the industry.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out according to plan, and the selected activities proved to be appropriate for achieving the objectives. The work included technical development, pre-verification, market and regulatory analyses, business model development, training materials, and commercialization preparations. Close collaboration between industry, academia, and industry organizations ensured effective execution throughout the project and contributed to the successful achievement of the main objectives.
