Important results from the project
We have achieved all specific objectives: 1) We developed a drone that is capable of performing rescue missions in real-world conditions; 2) Based on the data collected, we scientifically confirmed the effectiveness of our system in decreasing response times; 3) We integrated a fully functional drone dispatch system with the Emergency Medical Dispatch Center (SOS Alarm); 4) We conducted pilot tests that confirmed the performance and reliability of the entire system under real-world circumstances.
Expected long term effects
The project achieved all objectives and deliverables on schedule, resulting in the successful development and testing of a fully functional integrated drone system equipped with AED defibrillators to be delivered to OHCA incident sites in real-world scenarios as a complement to standard EMS care. Additionally, at the beginning of January we published a press release about our first successful drone rescue operation, which was widely reflected in the world media (e.g. BBC, Forbes, Newsweek).
Approach and implementation
All targets were met, except for the start of piloting in May 2021. Although Everdrone met all recommendations, the Department of Air Traffic Management (TSBT) refused to issue an approval for pilot flights. Currently, the Danish state-owned company Naviair is negotiating with TSBT on behalf of Everdrone to obtain the authorisation to complete the last part of the project in Denmark.
