Important results from the project

The main goal of the project was to develop an optimal Sioo:x panel product for the North American and Scandinavian markets. This includes making Sioo:x work with various North American and European wood species with pigmented wood protection products. Sioo:x panel products are environmentally friendly and have a long life-span and maintenance intervals. Sioo:x products provide a positive aesthetics as the natural grain of the wood appears visually. Sioo:x aims to promote construction in wood which binds CO2 and reduces the use of materials that generate CO2 during production.

Expected long term effects

In this project, we have developed pigmented Sioo:x panel assortments with a focus on North American and Scandinavian wood species in different colors. In the project, we have developed the desired products, which are verified with different test results. The new products have been introduced in different geographical markets. This means that good full-scale reference objects exists. Sioo:x technology has been presented for both industrial application partners in several countries, as well as for architects and construction companies with good results.

Approach and implementation

Through results from experiments in Weatheromers and field studies, we have now identified certain types of binder systems that provide very good properties. Together with RISE, we have further optimized the recipes. A specific Sioo:x system in different colors has also shown good results as a maintenance product for a well-known wood protection system. The collaboration between the project partners, Sioo and Hasås, as well as between Sioo´s internal R & D, company management and RISE, CIT and AWA Patent has worked excellent. Sioo has developed panel products to present globally.
