Purpose and goal

The main project goal is to enhance the physical visit based on digitalization in real-time via 5G and, in accordance with GDPR and privacy considerations, enable anonymous communication with the visitor via his or her mobile phone to provide digital help as expected at every visit to physical properties. The evaluations will be for retail spaces, but requirement analysis and implemented mechanisms based on standardized 5G are generic to any environment.

Expected effects and result

The project aims at digitalization of physical visits to enrich the experience of the user via anonymous communication with the mobile phone with consideration to the privacy requirements of GDPR. It will leverage existing infrastructure of mobile network operators and of visitor/customer relations management systems, and add infrastructure, interfaces, and secure platforms to implement a prototype for TRL 6-7 that digitalizes the physical visit and enables relevant communication with visitors.

Planned approach and implementation

- analyze requirements, use cases and privacy aspects together with a reference group - implement an insight triggering prototype at the mobile network operator test area - implement a fictious retailer customer relations management system - establish an environment to support development and an evaluation environment with a dedicated indoor 5G - network at Epicenter Store for realistic tests, verifications and demos in a store environment - disseminate the project results externally
