Important results from the project

The focus of this report is upon model development and the creation of an analytical tool helping innovative startup companies, especially when they are in the scaleup/efficiency phase. The model connects business models with growth and competitive strategies and economic logic and structure as shown in annual reports. This model development should support the building of an "entire company", which includes development of value propositions, business models, resource accumulation and organisational structure.

Expected long term effects

The aim is to develop a model who should be of help for startup companies to grasp a holistic picture of the connections between value proposition, business model and to build an entire company (which we call business system). Special focus put is upon to analytically separate factors related to business models and factors guarding growth and scalability.

Approach and implementation

The method is integrative model development, where basically well-known models are put together to form a holistic model. The creative element lies in the holistic perspective and the forming of the holistic model, which is called the "Three levels model". This deductive, basically theoretical model development is supported with a multiple case study analysis, where the empirical material is used for generative purposes in finding interesting perspectives and empirical validation.
