Important results from the project
The project´s objective was to "develop frameworks, methods and tools that help production engineers to be active participants in the development of AI applications by utilizing their knowledge and creativity". The goal has been partially met as we have developed a framework for AI system development in manufacturing, which has been tested with a couple of industry partners. Methods for integration into operational workflows have also been developed and implemented at an industry partner.
Expected long term effects
The project generally contributes to strengthening the capacity of manufacturing organizations to drive AI implementation projects, where cross-functional collaboration, workflow integration, and collaboration between humans and AI are crucial.
Approach and implementation
Industry partners identified and ran their own projects for AI application, while researchers contributed frameworks and tools to facilitate implementation. These frameworks and tools were piloted at partner companies to evaluate their validity.
