Important results from the project

We worked on a feasibility study and writing of an EU proposal regarding criminal investigations using metabolomics and emerging cross-border technologies. The project consisted of 3 sub-projects: The first involved a study of transferring data and prediction models between laboratories where we showed that transfer models work for metabolomics. The second part involved the implementation of a workshop to gather actors from Europe in metabolomics. The last part involved writing the proposal.

Expected long term effects

Yes. The results of the transfer models are above expectations, which contributed to a better EU proposal. We also intend to continue this work to develop knowledge on how metabolomics data can be transferred and standardized.

Approach and implementation

Workshop and planning of writing were definitely the right activities. We received a lot of good help from LiU´s grants and programme office to carry out the workshop, where all actors from Europe gathered in Linköping. The funding hada huge impact on understanding and engagement in the proposal. The grant thus had results above expectations. We noted that several authorities are not really prepared for the need for cross-border cooperation in Europe. But with good support they can get there.
