Important results from the project
The goal for the project was to test the system architecture and security mechanism for applikations in the areas energy services and Android based care services. The Media Sense platform used in the energy gateway has been implemented as an OSGI bundle and that way been ported to the OSGI environment as part of the system architecture. We have demonstrated that using the same Android Set top box you can watch TV program, have video call, use Internet for ordering food and on the screen see your heart frequency using an Android app.
Expected long term effects
The project has demonstrated that OSGI is a platform which can handle different kind of services. The project has also shown that you can make a robust version of OSGI where different services are isolated from each other. OSGI is a platform which now is recommended by many operators and it is part of our system architecture. That Android is a potential gateway platform has been shown in the project. It is cost efficient, has good graphical properties and built in security mechanism. In the project we have demonstrated that OSGI services also can be ported to Android.
Approach and implementation
The project has in its first phase implemented robustness in OSGI and done theoretical studies related to Android partly waiting for hardware. In the next phase the energy platform Media Sense has been implemented as an OSGI bundle which has been ported to the home gateway. Regarding Android we finally did find a Set top box meeting our requirements and could be used as a service gateway in the architecture. With that box we have tested and verified a number of care services
