Important results from the project

The purpose of Group Mentorship was to provide and reach out to more young people with a platform that is both supportive and inspiring, where human support between an adult and young people can be the focus and contribute in its simple yet powerful way. Research has shown that young people´s well-being improves when they have an adult in their environment to turn to, and while the health-promoting aspects are clearly improved, risk factors such as violent crime, use of alcohol and drugs, sexual risk behavior and other self-harming behavior are also reduced.

Expected long term effects

Through its youth council, project partners and other external partners, Mentor has been able to launch Group Mentorship as a new flagship programme for Mentor in 2022. Impact measurement will be done in the fall of 2023 at the earliest when we start up all group mentorships in the spring. This takes place according to the previous agreement with Vinnova and will be submitted later in the fall of 2023.

Approach and implementation

We have coordinated and participated in all development stages together with our participant, youth council and external partners. Through preliminary studies, needs analysis, workshops, interviews and user tests, we have been able to launch our new programme. It has required enormous coordination by Mentor Sverige with several stakeholders involved. Through its activities, Mentor has also disseminated information about the new program via the existing contact routes to schools, within civil society and public actors, as well as established communication channels.
