Important results from the project

The formal project goals set in the project can be considered achieved, but not the ambitions we had for a completed consortium for a demo project by September 2025. However, we have reached important outcomes in understanding issues such as: The international autonomous vehicle ecosystem Geopolitical factors Anchoring within public transport Awareness of AD in Sweden Knowledge on how to evaluate pilots Continued dialogue with consortia

Expected long term effects

We are closer to a large-scale pilot for Autonomous Vehicles in public transport through this project. The parties asked which obstacles must be addressed, and how these can be handled to achieve a system demonstrator. There is a greater understanding of the challenges that arise when public transport is transformed into a future with flexible, and in some parts autonomous public transport. There is greater knowledge in Europe (CCAM partnership) that Sweden is ahead in these issues.

Approach and implementation

The consortium formation activity took more time than planned. Geopolitics, financing rules, market ambitions have been factors that have played a role. The work on the framework for follow-up of AD in public transport has been carried out well, and there is now a plan and tools for how a demonstrator should be followed up. Work on anchoring has taken place in several ways, both internally at VT, but also with entrepreneurs and at the political level. VT has worked on planning BOD 2.0
