Important results from the project
The project met the goal through a submitted proposal to Nordic Innovation. We collaborated with Nordisk Folkecenter (DK) who led the project application and with 6 Nordic companies; this network can be used in the future. The title was changed: RISENORD-Resilient & Independent Sustainable Energy for Nordic Islands. Chalmers Industriteknik is responsible for 2 of 6 work packages: WP1. Mapping of Island Bioresources and Energy Needs and WP6. Dissemination, Upscaling and Policy Recommendations.
Expected long term effects
By integrating technical development, operational validation, knowledge exchange and policy‑oriented work, RISENORD goes beyond conventional demonstration projects. It creates a coherent framework for developing resilient, competitive and replicable hybrid energy systems that can help Nordic islands and remote communities become oil-free by 2050, while positioning the Nordic region as a global leader in sustainable, resilient energy solutions for cold‑climate, island and coastal areas.
Approach and implementation
The project structure changed as we established a partnership with Nordisk Folkecenter in Denmark who became the coordinator. Despite the new established collaborations, the project was able to follow the schedule and the proposal was submitted. New contacts with other companies and collaborations required more time to agree on the responsibilities and activities in the future project, but the collaboration was good and will be useful in the future.
