Purpose and goal
The project develops an autonomous drone system where two drones cooperate: one scouts from high altitude and detects objects with AI, the other follows the prioritized target at low altitude. The system automatically re-prioritizes when new findings are found. The development builds on previous Vinnova project.
Expected effects and result
The project is expected to deliver an autonomous, collaborative drone system that enables more efficient and safer surveillance. It reduces risks to personnel, improves target tracking and incident response, and strengthens Sweden´s innovation and technology development capabilities within autonomous systems.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be implemented by integrating Jetson nodes into two drones, connecting them to the control system, and implementing AI-based target detection, mission logic, and communication. This will be followed by incremental ground and flight tests to verify autonomy, robustness, and target switching before the final demonstrator.
