Important results from the project

The work has resulted in methods for image and sound processing and new procedures for flight operations with UAS. A functioning modular system with audiovisual localization, identification, tracking, and visualization has been demonstrated in a real environment. The project has achieved its goal by successfully conducting field tests with all groups on several occasions. The project has thus laid a strong foundation for the future with new partnerships and opportunities for further development.

Expected long term effects

The project has initiated discussions about demonstrators, participation in major exercises and further development of detection systems. It has laid the foundation for long-term cooperation, continued technical development and national innovation in total defense and drone technology. Further, the infrastructure at Campus Ljungbyhed is a growing node for testing activities and has enabled tests for new players, including in autonomy, drone detection and 5G/6G technology.

Approach and implementation

The project had three phases, with joint experimental weeks at the airport in Ljungbyhed. At the beginning of the project, separate systems were developed, and towards the end of the project, the focus was on integration and communication between the systems. All partners participated in recurrent workshop meetings for continuous insight into and support for their respective specialist areas. The work was demonstrated on two occasions, with participants invited to observe live field tests.
