Important results from the project
The area analysis should contribute to setting a vision that the bio-based production processes should be made carbon dioxide-free and probe what possible paths and measures exist to take steps in that direction. The goal is for every carbon atom to be useful and used in value-creating products. The area analysis must show the possibility of reaching the goal and identify the obstacles that need to be overcome. The project goal is to describe how carbon dioxide-free production could become a reality and create a collection of actors who together want to drive development in that direction.
Expected long term effects
Driving forces to take steps towards carbon-free production: New business for today´s bio-based industry The overall perspective the climate. Companies´ own climate goals, strategies and certifications Willingness to pay for sustainable fuels for aviation and shipping thanks to policy instruments Political investments in bio-CCS and electrofuels (EU and national) Positioning for the future. Carbon efficiency a competitive advantage when carbon atoms become a limited resource Expected effects of the project are that more new initiatives in the area are started.
Approach and implementation
1. Mapping of the state of knowledge 2. Identify the decisive parameters for companies´ efforts towards carbon dioxide-free production in the bio-based industry. 3. Map the techniques, processes and materials needed. 4. Conduct interviews and roundtable discussions where the identified development needs are discussed and anchored. 5. Report writing 6. Seminar on how the results are taken forward. We find it valuable to engage stakeholders at different stages in the project so that you can come back with anchoring conclusions etc.
