Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to strengthen the internal competence within Acorai through a collaboration with Shaghayegh Bayati from MSCAs Innovative Training Networks (ITN) at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm focusing on biomedicine and biotechnology. The goals of the collaboration was: 1. Excellence in biomedicine, biotechnology and biomarkers: knowledge exchange and improved conditions for research and product development. 2. Academic competence: academic writings on achieved results 3. Increased diversity within the company: new ideas and working methods
Expected long term effects
The collaboration between Shaghayegh and Acorai has led to an exchange of knowledge and experience between the parties. Acorai has been able to focus on R&D of a saliva-based NT-proBNP biomarker. For Shaghayegh, she has been able to use her knowledge in biomedicine and biomarkers in a context outside academia. The project has also included academic writing in connection with the results of the project and investigations within sustainability. The project turned out not to have the opportunity for continued expansion (NTproBNP not as good as we hoped for after Shaghayegh´s analyses).
Approach and implementation
The project was planned in five stages: 1. Research within NT-proBNP 2. Feasibility of NT-proBNP: heart failure treatment 3. Feasibility of NT-proBNP: Acorai products 4. Communication: partners 5. Academic Writing & Sustainability Steps 1-3 took place during the first half of the project time. After in-depth analyzes of NTproBNP, its impact and possible further development, a decision was made halfway through the project period not to proceed to product development. Academic writing and sustainability are two of the things that progressed during the project period.
