Purpose and goal
The VibroDrive+ project improves offshore anchoring by linking installation effects to long-term performance. With a validated vibro-drivability model and predictive frameworks the project increases reliability, cost-efficiency, and flexibility for offshore renewable energy. Vibro-driven solutions become a sustainable and competitive alternative to impact driving.
Expected effects and result
VibroDrive+ will deliver advanced drivability models to support the next UMACK anchor design, with three full-scale units deployed in Portugal in 2026/2027. DNV is involved in type certification, aiming for TRL9. Data from VibroDrive+ will be shared to promote best practices. With these results CorPower Ocean will be set up for success in projects with major Floating Offshore Wind players and wave offtakers, which have PreFEED studies planned for 2025–2027.
Planned approach and implementation
VibroDrive+ uses small- and large-scale lab tests to study vibro-installation and cyclic response of anchors. Comparative methods reveal soil behavior and validate drivability models. Both tubular piles and UMACK mesh-grid anchors are tested, helping extend theory and support Dieseko B.V.´s expertise. Results aim to improve anchor design and installation efficiency.
