Important results from the project

Hexeye Solutions is developing an innovative airborne system for sustainable suppression of wildfires. The system is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than traditional air-based firefighting and enables operation in difficult weather and smoke conditions with less risk for the firefighting staff. The purpose of this project was to develop a realistic demonstration system that largely mimics the final product to gain technically and commercially valuable experience.

Expected long term effects

The project has made it possible for Hexeye Solutions to move from an innovative idea to a functional demonstration system. Within the project, we have developed a first version of the required mechanics, electronics, and software. We have also filed a patent application. The project has given us invaluable insight into the advantages and challenges of our concept. We now have a better understanding of the customer benefits and how we best can move forward with our product development.

Approach and implementation

The work has been planned and administered by the project manager. The project team has many years of experience in the development of drones, electronics, and software. Despite this, the difficulty and required work effort was still underestimated. The main challenges have been related to small, yet critical, details. The project has been difficult but successful and resulted in an invaluable boost of application specific know-how which has significantly strengthened Hexeye Solutions´ competitiveness.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
