Important results from the project
Yes, as planned we have focused on finding and setting up co-operations with suppliers/contractors who could help with design-for-production, and adaptation of features and procedures according to regulatory aspects required by medical devices like ours (including MDR - Medical Device Regulation - and CE-marking). We have now produced a demo-version that early collaborators/customers could use for their research applications.
Expected long term effects
These results will have fundamental effects in the near and mid-term future for us. It has enabled us to: - develop the product to a point which can be used by early collaborators - establish co-operations with several manufacturing and regulatory players, as well as consultants that will keep co-operating with us. - improve our internal know-how, network and positioning - ultimately be one step closer to final product launch and attract private funding
Approach and implementation
Before starting the project we identified key partners and expertise we needed to develop the product toward regulatory compliance and manufacturability. Upon start we established co-operations with a number of partners to - draft technical documentation and other required files - modify the prototype design to minimize risks and improve outcomes - investigate and implement basic usability engineering aspects - modify the design to be produced with injection molding rather than 3D-printing
