Important results from the project
ReMe aims to drive a societal shift towards a circular economy by increasing the utilisation rate of existing assets. Huge sums are spent in Sweden on assets that are little used, causing waste and environmental damage within and beyond its borders. We invite consumers to rethink their equipment through a platform that facilitates on-the-spot choices for the use of products that result in more circular and sustainable use of assets while also saving time and money.
Expected long term effects
Stage 1 of the project has built the foundations for more efficient use of assets that has the potential to reduce Sweden’s consumption footprint through smoother exchange of products as a service and new business opportunities. Drawing on market and policy analyses, the ReMe solution is a suite of platform modules that provide the scaffolding to enable third parties to enhance the functionality of their circular product offerings or build completely new services.
Approach and implementation
ReMe Stage 1 was delivered by a consortium led by Stockholm Environment Institute in close cooperation with developers and data specialists, Nagoon AB and ModernAge. Research and engagement with a broad range of actors in the market and policy analyses provided essential insights for the design of the platform solution for implementation in Stage 2.
