Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to conduct a pilot study with MVP1.0 (a technology platform that connects people with solar energy, using a novel self-financing mechanism) and verify customer business case with both B2C customers and B2B customers. The goal is to gain a proof of concept and improve the scalability of the business model engaging international stakeholders for sustainable impact.

Expected long term effects

The result of the project is that the team has now succeeded in launching the MVP1.0 and conducting the pilot with both B2C and B2B customers. We learned that the B2B model has greater potential for scaling up the business considering the operational efficiency and the B2B customers´ existing networks that we can further leverage on for later market expansions. Following the successful pilot, we plan to expand the partnership across the country. Since autumn, dialogues with a number of business angel investors were hold for discussion regarding further financing of the expansion.

Approach and implementation

A field trip has been made to Kenya. Together with our partners from Sweden and Kenya, the pilot study (including customer training, system integration, testing, delivery and data collection etc.) was implemented in two regions. In order to better understand and act on customer feedback, the team was conducting weekly meeting for reflections and action points follow up. This has made the project implementation as well as corresponding business model improvements much more efficient.
