Purpose and goal
The project addresses one of the biggest obstacles to replacing plastics: the lack of technology that can give molded fiber new functional properties through industrial processes. Without consistent and repeatable application of dispersion coatings, innovations get stuck at the prototype stage, slowing the transition to fiber-based alternatives. Jord Innovation is developing a pilot machine that can apply coatings to molded fiber to enable industrial scale-up.
Expected effects and result
By combining technical development with market validation, the project lays the foundation for a solution that can accelerate the transition from plastic to fiber-based materials and thereby contribute directly to both climate goals and competitiveness in Swedish and international industry.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is carried out in five stages: concept development, construction, verification, demonstration for selected actors and collection of market feedback. The final report summarizes the results and serves as a basis for further investments and a plan for
scaling up.
