Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to build and test an MVP smartphone application for auditing accredited, high quality carbon removal credits. Planboo has a verified methodology which enables landowners to turn their crop waste into biochar carbon removal credits. The smartphone app is a key requirement from the certifying body (EBC) and will now allow us to enable many more landowners to join in the solution.

Expected long term effects

After the project period, Planboo has successfully been able to build the smartphone application in partnership with the software developer company Think-it. The app has been designed and built to run on IOS and Android. We have begun our testing period in the third week of May 2023 after a short delay in the finalisation of the app build. The app will be tested in three of Planboo’s projects in May and June 2023.

Approach and implementation

The project design was realistic and implemented well. Sub-objective 3-the app build took 3 weeks longer than anticipated to complete as the Software Developer team Planboo contracted needed a little longer to complete on their side. There was good communication and expectation setting between Planboo and Think-it, and the delay took place because there was some feature finalisation required. Planboo is very happy with the outcome and can begin testing on our existing projects in May and June.
