Purpose and goal
The aim is to eliminate vibration injuries in the metal and mining industry, where this type of occupational injury is the most common and often leads to chronic problems. The core of the project is technology development where we will adapt and introduce vibration-reducing machine solutions, carry out measurements in participating companies and spread knowledge. The goal is to reduce vibration injuries in the participating companies, for further dissemination to other metal industries.
Expected effects and result
The project contributes to a sustainable and resilient industry by addressing the work environment and reduced personal injuries. It will focus on the needs/initiatives required to achieve the impact target “Zero vibration injuries” for companies within the ore - steelmaking - foundry value chain. In the long term, this will lead to both fewer sick leave and less suffering, as well as opportunities for employers to attract and retain staff.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will address technology, biological testing, workplace culture and communication through the following packages:
- Mapping and measures on hand-held machines,
- Development of the RVM10 to RVM20 measurement system,
- Working methods for acceptance and competence building around harmful vibrations,
- Preparatory studies to create a basis for future limit values for impact vibrations,
- Internationalisation and dissemination of results, and
- Coordination and project management.
