Important results from the project

The goals were not fully met, as the focus on robotics was less than planned. However, the project provided important results in the form of new insights into the speed of AI development, the need for faster collaboration with startups, and new perspectives on autonomous vehicles, innovation, and how Volvo can strengthen its future innovation efforts.

Expected long term effects

In the longer term, the project is expected to provide a better basis for strategic choices in AI, automation and innovation. This can lead to a strengthened innovative capacity and a better ability to translate new technology into business value. The project can also influence how research, design and early development decisions are conducted.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out relatively independently and largely followed the planned framework, but did not develop entirely as intended. It was difficult to find relevant contacts in Silicon Valley, and the support for finding the right actors was limited. The program could have been more elaborate. At the same time, the week provided several unexpected but valuable insights that contributed to the project´s results.
