Purpose and goal
Water4Resilience aims to increase system readiness for circular water and nutrient reuse by implementing and validating integrated water reclamation, resource recovery, and monitoring solutions in real-world environments. The project will demonstrate how reclaimed water can support local food production, strengthen resilience to climate-related water challenges, reduce freshwater consumption, and accelerate the transition towards sustainable and circular water management systems.
Expected effects and result
The project will deliver solutions for water reuse, nutrient recovery, and digital monitoring in real-world environments such as wastewater treatment plants, schools, and commercial buildings. The results will demonstrate safe and efficient use of reclaimed water for local food production and green infrastructure. Expected impacts include reduced freshwater consumption, increased resilience to water shortages, and improved conditions for large-scale implementation of circular water systems.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is carried out in collaboration between academia, municipalities, utilities, companies, and schools. Technologies for water reuse, nutrient recovery, and digital monitoring will be developed, tested, and demonstrated in real-world environments. The results will be evaluated from technical, environmental, economic, and social perspectives to support the wider implementation of circular water systems.
