Important results from the project
The project has achieved its goals through collaboration between municipalities, project teams, authorities and experts. New methods and forms of collaboration have been developed and tested with a focus on long-term sustainable living environments based on local values. Knowledge sharing through dialogue and joint activities has strengthened learning across organisational and geographical boundaries. In several cases, the results live on in new initiatives, which shows long-term relevance.
Expected long term effects
The project has contributed to alternative methods in the municipal context and innovative learning from the prototype as a method. The prototypes have led to new processes being initiated and strengthened collaboration across administrative boundaries, which has potential to have long-term effects on how development work is organized and implemented. The project has strengthened the authorities´ collaboration with the municipalities, which creates the conditions for more accurate governance.
Approach and implementation
The project management has led and supported all participants during the process. Six teams worked with six municipalities in the first phase. Three teams implemented their prototypes during the second phase of the project. Knowledge sharing and joint reflection have been central and have taken place in a structured manner, which has strengthened learning and collaboration across organisational and geographical boundaries, including between the authorities within the Council for Living Cities.
