Call | A new recipe for the food system: The pot of innovation - Experiment, experiment and explore |
Purpose and goal
The project develops Universal Basic Nutrient Income, an innovative framework that uses welfare infrastructure for food system transformation. Through a policy lab, policy tools and frameworks for "food as welfare", "food as medicine" and "food for work" are co-created. The goal is to strengthen municipal preparedness through policy instruments, local credit systems and a scalable model for achieving equitable access to healthy nutrition through food sovereignty and local food system resilience.
Expected effects and result
The project results in three concrete policy frameworks with implementation guides, local credit system models and regulatory tools for municipal application. The result strengthens cross-sectoral cooperation, explores new economic models for improved local food sovereignty and a concrete step towards a broader transformation of the food system and a scalable model for UBNI implementation. Knowledge and tools are disseminated via, among others, the Agroecology Europe Forum.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be implemented from August 2025 to May 2026 in seven work packages: structured policy labs, European knowledge exchange via the Agroecology Europe Forum, development of alternative credit systems with Lund University, and dissemination. The project is led by Dark Matter Labs with MiljöMatematik and Positiva Pengar as key partners. The method is based on co-creation, regulatory analysis and applied research for system innovation and transformation of the food system.
