Purpose and goal
The project aims to develop and test an integrated model for sustainable urban transformation in Swedish million program areas through similar efforts in Biskopsgården in Gothenburg and Gottsunda in Uppsala. By combining local area development, socio-economic transformation and universal design, the project addresses key challenges linked to segregation, local economy and accessible living environments.
Expected effects and result
The objective is to develop open, evidence-based methods, tools and decision support that can be used by municipalities, housing companies and civil society actors throughout the country. We will develop and test integrated development interventions that reduce segregation and strengthen local attractiveness, measured through indicators such as housing mobility, safety and perceived quality of life.
Planned approach and implementation
We will work in parallel in three thematic areas, where we further develop and test the methods in real urban development processes, followed up through pre- and post-measurements and joint learning processes. We will validate the models through comparative analysis between two so-called twin areas to strengthen generalizability and national transferability. The project´s methods, indicators and collaboration models aim for long-term implementation and scaling after the end of the project.
