Important results from the project
The goal was to create a fully automated news-editorial service, which could be the basis for news publishers. Several areas are being monitored and articles are being created. All this free up time for human journalists to do more profound work. Lingmill has achieved the goals for this project. News in seven categories is available via subscription to publishers fully automated. Lingmill has also created a demo site where you can see how it works live, adogio.com. Lingmill has also met the goal of having a number of relevant pilot customers who have subscribed to the service.
Expected long term effects
Lingmill has made news subscription feeds available which can be adapted locally for publishers. We have also launched a news website that is fully automated with the news that Lingmill constantly produces, put in a context. We have a number of pilot customers who test the service on their news sites, which will lead to requests for customization, which means that the automatic news editor will be further developed. In general, insights will come up on how to optimize work on a news desk in the future.
Approach and implementation
Lingmill had earlier text robots that created sports news. We took this concept to more areas. Economy, climate, labor market, entertainment, voter surveys and police work. And for each domain we built a text robot algorithm, we developed and improved the concept. Meanwhile, we made contact with the market, for example through webinars where we presented our offerings and listened for ideas and difficulties. Some of these contacts led to pilot customers who started subscribing to the news feeds. The system was also tested for use with multiple languages.
