Important results from the project
The traffic management´s goal was to make tickets available for more people in order to lower the threshold for public transport. With the development of a common BoB standard for Sweden´s public transport, it was possible to develop this together with other players. The traffic management´s goal was to establish an infrastructure for both testing and operation, which should create the conditions for this development to continue. This would be done together with external parties in order to verify the technical function, and in the meantime create the necessary agreements.
Expected long term effects
The traffic management has implemented the different APIs of the BoB standard. Infrastructure for testing, validation and operation is in place. One service is in operation via this system, Movingo. For two additional services, Whim (MaaS Global) and Travis (Nobina), integration and testing is ongoing with the intention of launch towards customers in June 2019. These services and more to come is expected to raise the share of sustainable travelling in the future.
Approach and implementation
The Traffic Administration´s IT department has set up environments for development, testing, validation and operation. Personnel in different teams have implemented the BoB APIs in our systems and have also been in contact with companies that will integrate with us for support and exchange of experience. The work has gone well, but it was challenging to get hold of development resources resulting in that it took longer calendar time than planned. The BoB standard is new and untested, which lead to some uncertinities that made the development take longer working time than planned.
