Important results from the project
The project aimed to investigate the value of open data in a way that highlights different dimensions, from an SME company´s perspective. The overall goal was to create a concrete Swedish example that demonstrates the value of open data. One of the goals was to improve the foundation for decision-making around open data. The project included an implementation in the form of a case study based on open data from the HIP platform. Methods and analyses are presented in a final report, which companies and organisations can use in their work with open data.
Expected long term effects
The project delivered results in several ways. The main result is the final report which can be used as a template for companies and organisations wanting to use open data. The report presents examples and methods for how organisations can manage the practicalities of working with open data and the valuation thereof. It is also shown that the economic potential is great, both for publishing and utilizing organisations. An additional positive effect is that the HIP platform´s open data APIs were test-run by an independent company, and feedback was given to the platform organisation.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out by SenseMate AB, and began with an analysis of available open data sources. After evaluation, data sources were selected. The case study utilized open datasets from HIP and SCB. Data analysis and data modeling were performed on the datasets. Information was collected about the health domain and international examples. Value analyses were made for small and medium-sized companies, the county and patients. Information sharing took place with relevant organizations. The case study and work was summarized in a final report.
