Important results from the project

TexChain 3´s purpose was to create possibilities for circular and resource-efficient products or solutions through development via 8 pilots, creating collaborations between the parties and making prototypes to inspire and increase knowledge about circular materials. The aim has been fulfilled as 8 pilots have been carried out which were knowledge-enhancing and inspiring. Prototypes have been produced and cooperation created between the parties. A tool for circularity assessment has been developed as well as a 1st version of a marketplatform for secondary textiles.

Expected long term effects

The pilots have shown that it is possible to make new products from textile residual streams and the project has increased the level of knowledge among the parties. When more people get inspired by this, collaboration in new value chains with circular flows will be established more stably and waste quantities will be reduced. The methods in the project have worked well and been appreciated. The market platform needs more development and as the market matures it will have a better effect. One company will soon start a new product range based on the work in the project.

Approach and implementation

The project´s idea with different levels of commitment from the project parties has worked very well. Those who have come a long way with their circular business model have received good development and help with demonstrations, and the others have gained increased knowledge and a lot of inspiration. The commitment to the project has been high all along despite the pandemic in the middle. The project parties have complemented each other with different resources and knowledge. The project management team has been responsive and shaped project activities based on the needs of the group.
