Purpose and goal
The purpose is to verify Barracuda through qualified testing as an unmanned maritime vehicle. The project will validate datalink and GPS resilience, C2 communications under electronic warfare, stable low-altitude control, TAK-based data sharing, autonomous multi-platform coordination, operation during signal loss, and datalink handover in degraded environments, while generating independent test data for further product maturation and critical infrastructure protection.
Expected effects and result
The project is expected to deliver verified test results for Barracuda’s navigation, communications, low-altitude control, TAK integration and multi-platform coordination. The results will clarify system performance, limitations and development needs, reduce technical risk, and provide a basis for continued product development, demonstrations and future use in maritime situational awareness, surveillance and critical infrastructure protection.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be implemented in four stages: technical preparation, system integration, testing at RISE AstaZero, and results analysis. Sensors, control logic and communication solutions will first be finalised. Controlled tests will then assess navigation, low-altitude control, C2, TAK integration and multi-platform coordination. The test data will be analysed and converted into technical improvements, updated requirements and a plan for further product maturation.
