Important results from the project

Yes, the project achieved its goals. Through a target group survey, we gained insights into young people´s knowledge and associations with the bio-based industry. The results are being used to strengthen the connection between young people and the industry. The project has also facilitated new connections between actors in education, research, and business, with several planning to use the insights to attract young talent.

Expected long term effects

The project strengthens talent supply by providing insights into how the industry can attract young people. Improved communication and a clearer link between education and the labor market can increase interest in the sector. Companies are adjusting their recruitment strategies based on these insights, and new collaborations between academia and industry are being promoted. In the long run, the project contributes to a stronger workforce and a sustainable transition.

Approach and implementation

The project was conducted in collaboration with Ungdomsbarometern and followed the plan well. A survey with 1,000 young people (18–24) was conducted, followed by two focus groups. The goal was to gain insights into young people´s views on the bio-based industry. Results were presented at BioInnovation’s program conference and a breakfast seminar. A shorter report will soon be published on BioInnovation’s website. The longer report includes SCB data on graduation rates and application trends.
