Important results from the project

What is a good life when society is transforming to reduce climate changes? In the dialogue with the experiment "The epic of the mobile society", citizens have explored what life would be like with completely different living conditions and reflected on what is important in their lives. The exploration served the purpose to understand values and needs that planning have to consider on a long-term perspective.

Expected long term effects

The results and learnings move between the scenario´s possibilities to make values and needs visible, the diversity of people who have participated and the added values that have arisen when employees start to collaborate in the organization based on other logics. The overall pattern seen in the conversations is that in the scenario you would need a higher degree of cooperation. When the participants compare with how they experience their social community today, they overall describe a low sense of belonging - what does this mean for the design of the planning?

Approach and implementation

The exploration mainly has three phases: - Digital survey, images and the scenario in words - Dialogue on the Celsius square during "Allt ljus på Uppsala", physical prototypes - Workshops with children and young people in collaboration with the Barnombudet in Uppsala and Framtidsverkstaden in Gränby. In our tests, we have seen that the mini house creates better conditions for greater variety of groups and curiosity to participate in both short and long conversations. There is greater potential for curated group conversations, which so far has been difficult during winter.
