Purpose and goal

The project will construct and test a prototype for a solar collector and thermal storage system. The technology will be validated against key targets developed together with a potential customer. A successful project will show that the technology meets the customer´s targets and can deliver value. The results will form the basis for further developing the technology into a scalable solution. The project contributes to the transition to sustainable and renewable industrial heating.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to generate a prototype that meets the customer´s requirements specification and/or a list of identified areas of improvement that, if addressed, could lead to the requirements being met. The project and the list of areas of improvement will provide a good knowledge base for the next step, to develop a scalable product. The effects of this will increase the maturity of the technology and bring it closer to market introduction.

Planned approach and implementation

The prototype parts will be procured, designed and assembled under 2511-2602. Some parts such as the thermal battery are designed and constructed within the company, where smaller parts are purchased from subcontractors. The solar collector will be designed together with a subcontractor and produced by them. Final assembly will be done within Solstice. Under 2603-2605, the prototype will be tested and validated in the lab with the goal of achieving the customer´s requirements specification.
