Important results from the project

The aim of this project was to iteratively develop and validate the core features of a web application designed to guide biomedical researchers through the research process in an easy and intuitive manner. This approach ensures high-quality study design and reporting, thereby reducing research waste. We identified additional needs of our target group (researchers) and developed a more comprehensive and user-friendly prototype of the application. Additionally, we established an intellectual property (IP) strategy to outline routes for protection.

Expected long term effects

The project has led to a deeper understanding of the users’ needs and potential challenges in maintaining engagement with the application over time. Overall, the test users responded positively to the idea and validated our assumptions about their need for guidance and documentation tools. We are continuing to develop an initial version of the application for long-term user testing to evaluate engagement over time.

Approach and implementation

The project consisted of two rounds of user testing, which involved conducting interviews with biomedical researchers (the target users), evaluating the feedback gathered, and updating the application accordingly. These updates resulted in an improved version of the application with a clearer structure and enhanced user-friendliness. Additionally, the project involved establishing an IP strategy to plan for the future securing of the intellectual property contained in the application.
