Call | Strategic innovation program Drive Sweden: Innovations for a sustainable, digitized and automated transport system for people and goods |
Purpose and goal
RWW II is a system demonstration aimed at providing increased traffic safety around roadworks through a system solution to warn road users of ongoing maintenance work. The project aims to: • Evaluate the effect and benefit of the system solution • Create knowledge about the necessary conditions that must be created to ensure implementation of the solution, including future business models, division of responsibilities between the actors, standard and quality of information/data to be shared.
Expected effects and result
The project will create a knowledge base to help achieve a sustainable and safe transport system for all road users by preventing traffic accidents in connection with ongoing road maintenance work. The knowledge base will contain information about the composition of the ecosystem, business models, requirements and the technical solution, its effect, quality and reliability. Implementation of the results will lead to a more efficient and sustainable transport system.
Planned approach and implementation
A system demonstration will be established and run for 18 months in Sweden and Norway. Information about position and speed from thousands of maintenance vehicles in Sweden and Norway will be sent to a so-called National Data Access Point (NDAP) via fleet Management Systemen. The information will then be uploaded to HAAS Alerts Safety Cloud for further processing and filtering. Warnings about ongoing road works will be sent out to road users who are nearby via various applications.
