Important results from the project

REC established the foundation for a mission-driven cluster in sustainable and industrialised remanufacturing, leveraging world-class expertise in production engineering and metal additive manufacturing. Foresight activities engaged existing and potential partners from industry, academia and innovation actors. The work created a robust basis for strategic collaboration and a shared vision to lead the transition toward a circular and resilient society through additive (re)manufacturing.

Expected long term effects

REC is expected to deliver long-term impact for industry, the environment and research. By positioning Sweden as a global leader in sustainable remanufacturing, REC will strengthen industrial competitiveness. The cluster can accelerate remanufacturing internationally, reduce material use, energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, and build resilience—in line with Sweden’s and the EU’s climate targets. REC will also serve as a long-term platform for world-class research, innovation and education.

Approach and implementation

The project followed the plan with no major obstacles. Activities strengthened collaboration, trust and shared direction. Foresight work, surveys and close collaboration between the prestudies REC+CAMP generated key insights and led to a common vision for a more resilient and circular society. Physical meetings deepened relationships, creating strong engagement and alignment on both technology and societal aspects. The collaboration progressed well but required more time than initially planned.
