Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to develop a new kind of gas sensor. Gas sensor prototypes with MoS2 as the active material were successfully developed during the autumn and early in 2023 lab tests of these were carried out to understand the sensor properties of the material. The results showed that the sensors are sensitive to H2, NO2 and NH3. But unfortunately the selectivity turned out to be very low. The only truly promising application turned out to be hydrogen sensing in an oxygen-poor/oxygen-free environment, the dialogue continues with potential partners and customers.

Expected long term effects

The outcome of the project means that we can now focus on the most promising application, hydrogen in an oxygen-poor or oxygen-free environment. This will be very carefully evaluated based on market size, scalability, product requirements etc etc.

Approach and implementation

The first concrete step was the development of a method for prototype manufacturing and subsequently testing the manufactured prototypes. This has exceeded expectations, we were able to evaluate several different sensors against each other and get a clear result.
