Important results from the project

En steg 1-ansökan lämnades in framgångsrikt i september 2025.

Expected long term effects

If successful, MAZEC is expected to accelerate the shift to circular, low-carbon concrete. By turning demolition concrete into high-value inputs, the approach can reduce climate impact, decrease landfill use, and minimize the need for virgin materials. This preparatory project developed a research proposal with strong industry involvement, opening new markets, particularly for SMEs, with potential application in the Ukrainian reconstruction context.

Approach and implementation

The project followed the plan (five work packages) and timeline (3 months). LTU contributed core technology know-how, stakeholder mapping and technical writing in all parts of the proposal. The proposal preparation was lead by Dutch partners (TU Delft and Urban Mine). All key milestones, including the Stage-1 proposal submission, were completed on time. Collaboration worked well, with no major disruptions.
