Important results from the project
The objective was to conduct a feasibility study in the City of Västerås and three other municipalities to verify the operations and organization model of Landräddningen, it´s service bundling and the benefits for users of the service. The project plan has been fulfilled successfully and the partners was able to reach many conclusions. There is a big need of the function, but users have not begun to use the alarm function in any greater extent. Several big organisations have chosen to finance the development which is a clear proof of the concept and that the partnership is trustworthy.
Expected long term effects
Several key assumptions have been answered. The service was launched nationally for use in a circle of friends. The full functionality is available in 14 municipalities. Our initial focus on engaging members of SPF led to the conclusion that we best engage them through their relatives. The marketing was widened and the number of users increased. The function is used primarily in a small circle of friends, but everyone sees the value of matching volunteers. Just a few of the users have had any critical alarm situations and we can´t come to any conclusions from that result.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out in stages with an initial phase of technology development followed by an information phase to engage users, analysis phase and then start over with a new phase of development. There has been a large number of organizations involved and the parties in the project proved that a wide partnership, with limited resources, can develop a function like this built of users wishes and needs. Funding has proved to be the biggest difficulty, which also hampered the project. Despite this, the parties are satisfied with the outcome and the commitment that has been built up.
