Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to carry out a professional market research, secure IP rights, start the development of a prototype and start relationships with potential partners in the medtech industry. These objective have been largely fulfilled. Market analysis has been carried out and exceeded expectations. The preparation of a prototype has been done including the development of simple prototypes for certain critical parts. According to plan, IP rights have also been protected. Finally, a first step has been taken towards partnering with medtech companies.
Expected long term effects
All in all, the project has resulted in "proof-of-principle" for our innovation, ie there is a market, innovation can be protected and technology is practically feasible. With prototypes for the elements we also approach "proof-of-concept", ie a fully functioning, scalable prototype in addition to the above. The goal now is to work with our established contact in fine mechanics in order to continue developing this prototype before meeting with potential partners, as well as continue work on IP.
Approach and implementation
Work on IP protection was already underway and required funding for nationalization of the patent. We had also established contact with market analysts, so this could get started quickly. The work with prototype was more difficult, because the consultant we recommended had closed down his Gothenburg office. However, we found a fine mechanic with medtech experience who developed both CAD solutions and part prototype. Due to the delay, we applied for an extension of the project time, which was granted. Thanks to this, we were able to reach the main goal of the project for the year.
