Purpose and goal
The project aims to develop and demonstrate a scalable method for generating and quality assuring multimodal transport networks for walking, cycling, and motor traffic. The objective is to create planning-ready network data with documented quality and traceability that enables better analysis, better decision support, and more effective interventions in the transport system.
Expected effects and result
The project is expected to deliver a method for faster and more reproducible generation of multimodal transport networks, as well as a demonstrated municipal case in Gothenburg. Expected effects include better support for analysing flows, accessibility, and intervention effects, more efficient use of existing infrastructure, and improved conditions for national and international scaling and implementation.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is carried out by Simactis, Spacescape, the City of Gothenburg, and Lund University. The work includes development of AI-based network generation, quality assurance, analysis, and validation in a real municipal case in Gothenburg. The methodology is tested step by step to demonstrate how improved network data can be used in municipal transport planning.
