Important results from the project

This project has generated new knowledge about transformative regional innovation policy in collaboration with stakeholders at the local, regional, national, and European levels. We have gained experience in organizing research in interaction and developed multilevel learning journeys as a method. Furthermore, through the project we have built new relationships and established trust with a range of actors through three implemented learning journeys in Jämtland/Härjedalen, Värmland, and Skåne.

Expected long term effects

We aim to continue long-term collaboration with stakeholders from the learning journeys to strengthen their ability to assess, design, implement, and evaluate transformative regional innovation policies for greener and more just outcomes. Our work leads the research field in integrating justice into regional innovation policy, and we expect it to shape future discourse, rationales, and framing of transformative regional innovation policy through ongoing national and international collaborations.

Approach and implementation

The three multi-level learning journeys were the core of the project implementation. This entailed a combination of document analysis, interviews, workshops, and analysis of key findings. Overall, these activities allowed us to generate new knowledge in collaboration with stakeholders. In one of the cases, the joint workshop created new networks and momentum for regional strategy development. The collaboration was highly appreciated, fruitful and will expectedly continue in future.
